DIY Wednesday: Dress Hanger

This DIY idea came from a blog I saw on photopink that talked about how they love not trying to hide the hanger in the bride's infamous dress picture. In fact, they love making the hanger a part of the imagery. So I conjured up some cute hanger ideas and then put together a simple DIY for you brides who love your details.
Enjoy! Get creative!
xo

Supplies:
1. Scissors,
2. Wooden Hanger (or other)
3. Ribbon or strips of fabric ( I chose vintage scraps of fabric I had lying around)

                                            Directions:
1. Take the hanger and tie a knot with your ribbon or fabric strips at one end of the bottom of the hanger.
2. Wrap the fabric or ribbon around starting at the knot you created until you have covered all except for the metal hook.
3. Tie a knot with the remaining strip of fabric or ribbon, cut it and tuck the end under the wrapped pieces so it doesn't show.
4. Enjoy your gorgeous new dress statement.

I also thought it would be cute to make a name tag like MRS. or YOUR NAME by using a piece of your stationary with it printed or written, punching holes in the top corners and hanging with the same ribbon so it hangs on the "inside" of the hanger. There are so many options here! Use that gorgeous head of yours and get creative!

DIY Thurs

Okay so I'll admit it I forgot to post my DIY Wednesday so Im posting it today instead. I think all this weather change has got my days mixed up. Either way this DIY project is for more than just brides, it would also make excellent bridesmaids gifts, engagement accessories, or for an edgy bridal photoshoot.
Enjoy! Get Creative!

Tools:
1. Pliers
2. Old sunglasses case
3. Drill
4. Drawerpull w/bolt on end( anthropologie has some great ones! )
5. Wire cutters
Steps:
1. Drill hole in one side of sunglass case near the closure
2. Clip the end of the drawerpull to the length desired
3. Put drawerpull in hole and bolt on the inside to secure it.
4. Enjoy!

DIY: WEDNESDAY

This week's DIY idea is brought to us by 100layercake. I love unique centerpiece ideas. Especially affordable, adorable ones like this paper flower! You dont have to worry about wilting or transporting and they add a lovely whimsical touch to any event!

7 sheets of a single color for petals. Each sheet is a single petal. (We used Canson Colorline Art Papers 19″ x 25″ from the local art supply store.)

Yellow or mustard color for stamen (middle of the flower)

1 black for center

3 sheets of different greens (We used pastel quality greens because the colors are better)

Glue gun, pencil, scissors, 18″ ruler

Marci + Redge

Jan at 10secbride is all about DIY weddings and since i've featured a lot of muted color schemes I thought it was about time to bring in some color. Maybe itll encourage spring to come along too? Check out this gorgeous couple's bright and wonderful tree inspired DIY wedding.

I love the streamers and bright but complimenting colors of the flowers.

What a great "take home" gift: fruit from the tree.

These vintage bottles and vases are so cute and compliment this theme without overdoing it, look for them at your local Goodwill or other thrift store. Yard sales are also a great place to look.

Arent they such a great looking pair? I love her bib necklace and cardigan!

A great money saving way to incorporate this idea is to buy carnations ( the cheapest flower) and cut them short so just the petals stick out of the vases. They look full that way.

Isnt this little flowergirl's hair piece so adorable? Perfectly suiting.

Watching the movie at the end of the night.. great way to entertain the stragglers. :)

Well done Marci and Redge! I am completely inspired by your hard work!
